Kashan is the ancestral city of the Ghaffaris. It dates back to about 5000 BC. It was one of the centers of commerce on the Silk Road. For those who believe, in biblical times, it was the city where the three Wise Men of the East started their journey toward Bethlehem. One of the three, was the governor of Kashan.
It is also the city that the son of Abuzar Ghaffari decided to move to from Medina, after the split between the shi’ites and the Sunnis in the aftermath of the war Hossein lost and the schism in the new religion broke out.
